The new TBSF site is under construction!

To make visiting The Basement Server Farm easier I have added a second, much shorter, domain that can be used in place of "thebasementserver.com" so you don't have to type that long domain every time you visit us. The new domain is: tbsf.me The old domain will continue to be the main domain and anything that works with it should now also work with "tbsf.me". I am still in the process of getting Apache to cooperate with the change so some things might not work yet, but they will soon enough. If you find any bugs, please let me know!

Rainier's file system structure is being completely overhauled following the crash of a hard drive. A new hard drive has been installed and the file system structure desperately needs to be changed to make it more organized and functional. This means that Rainier is very busy moving large amounts of data from drive to drive and will be slow as a result. Rainier will need to be rebooted a few times during this process as well.[br]This process should take no more than 12 hours or so and everything should be back to normal by Saturday the 7th of August. Thank you for your patience and understanding. This is a necessary task to make The Basement Server Farm more reliable and secure. I have made a few changes to the server lately and I though I should announce them.[br]1) Automatic backup scripts have been implemented on all servers. Essential system backups take place every morning at 3:05AM EST and /home dir backups take place Sundays at 5:00AM EST. As part of the backup, each server exchanges backups so that they are distributed for safe keeping, therefore, during those times the servers will appear to be slow, but for no longer than 20min.[br]2) UnrealIRCd has been installed. It isnt fully configured yet but you are more than welcome to connect (Login to see details).[br]3) ProFTPd has replaced vsftpd as the FTP server for many boring reasons but mainly because it is more secure.

For some time now The Basement Server Farm has been home to a myriad of OpenSource GNU/GPL software that, until now, was slightly organized chaos. Now that the mirror has been cleaned up and updated what better time than now to introduce it to the world.
